Csenge Anna Baby Cardigan and Hat Set

This set is really close to my heart, I designed it for my daughter who was born in December 2018 and I named it after her. When I completed it, I decided to share it with other people too.
The pattern is suitable for advanced beginners or intermediate crocheters using different types of stitches, creating a nice, textured look.
NOTE:The size is for only 0-3 months babies, but I am planning to make more size options in the future.
You can use any DK or Baby DK Yarn for this project, it’s completely up to you!
I hope you’ll enjoy making it! Happy crocheting!

Additional terms/ Special Stitches:

Front Post Double Crochet:

Yarn over, insert your hook from the front around the post of given stitch, from right to left, yarn over and finish your double crochet as usual.

Back Post Single Crochet:

Insert your hook from the back around the post of given stitch, yarn over and finish your single crochet as usual.

Back Post Double Crochet:

Yarn over, insert your hook from the back around the post of given stitch, yarn over and finish your double crochet as usual.

Star Stitch:

Important: The star stitch is made of two rows.

Row 1:

Chain 3, insert your hook into the second chain from the hook. Yarn over and pull p a loop. There will be two loops on the hook. Insert your hook into the next chain, then yarn over and pull up a loop. There will be three loops on the hook. Insert your hook into each of the next three stitches, doing a yarn over and pull through in each so that you have six stitches on the hook.

Yarn over and pull through all six loops on the hook. Chain one to close the star, this creates the ” eye” of the first star. Next, insert your hook into the “eye” that you just made. Yarn over and pull through. There will now be two loops on your hook. Insert your hook into the space between the two last “spikes” from the first “star”. Yarn over and pull through. There will be three loops on your hook. Insert your hook into the same stitch where you worked the last stitch of the previous star. Yarn over and pull through. There will now be four loops on your hook. Insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through. Repeat in the next stitch,  this will give you six loops on your hook. Chain one to close the second star. Repeat the steps above to make stars all the way across the row. When you get to the end, make one hdc in the last stitch.

Row 2:

Turn the work and chain 2. This counts as the first hdc stitch of the row. Crochet one hdc stitch into the eye of the star in the row below. Work 2 hdc in the eye of each star across the row. When you get to the end, crochet 1 hdc in the final stitch.

Gauge:

4 double crochets and 2.5 rows of double crochets measure approx 1 inch

  1. Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I completed the jacket, and it is adorable. 🙂 Thanks again for the helpful email. I should have taken a photo of it, but now that my granddaughter has arrived, I can tell that it will be perfect! I chose Lion Brand’s Mandala yarn in the color “Narnia”, as it came fairly close to the beautiful colors in the jacket in your photo. Thanks again! <3
