I love soap cozies and nothing beats a good soap bar with an amazing fragrance. This is why I came up with this pattern as you can never have enough soap savers.

Difficulty: Easy/Advanced Beginner
Size: This pattern has one size, enough to fit a standard sized soap
Materials needed:
- 4 mm (G) size Hook (Get great hooks HERE)
- approx. 12-15 grams (41-51 meters/ 45-56 yards) of 100% cotton fingering weight yarn (I used Scheepjes Organicon in Buttermilk) (You can use 100% cotton DK yarn instead but note that the finished size will be bigger)
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Stitch markers
Stitches used and Abbreviations:
SK= skip
SP= space
CH = chain
ST/STS= stitch/ stitches
SLST = slip stitch
SC = single crochet
HDC = half double crochet
DC = double crochet
*-* =repeat pattern between these symbols
Gauge: Not needed
Additional notes:
- US terms used throughout
- If a row/round starts with a Chain 1, that is not counted as a stitch.
- CH 3 always counts as double crochet.
- Slip stitches do not count as stitches.
- After Row 2, you are going to work in rounds. You will crochet all the way across the row, and down the side, around the bottom and up the other side to turn it into a round.
- Notes are written in (brackets) to help you through the pattern.
- You can start each round as I did in the pattern or you can use a standing stitch or chains, it’s totally up to you!
Instructions
To start: CH 11
Row 1: 1 SC in the 2nd CH from the hook, 1 SC in each chain TURN
(10 SC)
Row 2: CH 1, 1 SC in each ST to end TURN
(10 SC)
Row 3/Round 3: CH 1, 2 SC in same ST, 1 SC in next 8 STS, 3 SC in next ST (corner), 1 SC in the side, 3 SC in next ST (that’s the first ST of the bottom, which is a corner), 1 SC in next 8 STS, 3 SC in next ST (corner), 1 SC in the side, 1 SC into the same ST, where you put 2 SC to start the round, join with a SLST to first SC
(30 SC)
Round 4: SLST to next ST (that’s the 2nd ST of the round), CH 3 (counts as DC), DC back in the first ST of the round, *SK next ST, DC in next ST, DC in skipped ST (this way you create little DC crosses)* repeat *to* around, join with a SLST to top of CH 3
(15 DC crosses)
Round 5-12: same as Round 4
(15 DC crosses)
Round 13: CH 1, 1 SC in same ST, 1 SC in each ST around, join with a SLST to first SC
(30 SC)
Round 14: CH 1, 1 HDC in same ST, CH 1, SK 1 ST, *1 HDC in next ST, CH 1, SK 1 ST* repeat *to* around, join with a SLST to first HDC
(15 x CH 1 SP, 15 HDC)
Round 15: CH 1, 1 SC in same ST, SK next CH 1 SP, 7 DC in next ST (HDC), SK next CH 1 SP, *1 SC in next ST (HDC), SK next CH 1 SP, 7 DC in next ST (HDC), SK next CH 1 SP* repeat *to* around, join with a SLST to first SC
(7 SC, 7 Shells)
Fasten off, weave in all ends.
Chain 70 for drawstring, put a knot on both ends, weave it in through the CH 1 spaces between the HDC posts from Round 14
