Hello and welcome to the Anna’s Tales Crochet Along!
If you are following me on my other social media platforms, you may know that I will run a CAL soon.
I am over the moon by all of your lovely responses and the interest you’ve shown. Also, I feel so excited and nervous about it. With all the things happened in 2020, I wanted to end this year with something nice to remember.
In this post, I try to collect all the information you need before the start:
- Story behind the name
- CAL start date
- Parts
- Materials needed
- Difficulty
- Size
- Gauge
- Helpful tips
- Facebook Group
- PDF file
The story behind the name:
My daughter’s middle name is Anna and she always sits next to me watching cartoons and checking my work while I’m crocheting. That’s why I decided to name the pattern after her, because all of my ideas for the design came from the love I feel for her, she inspires me all the time.
CAL start date:
The CAL starts on 27/12/2020. It’s right after Christmas when you don’t have much to do and hopefully you have some more time to sit and crochet. 😊
Parts:
- Week 1: 27 December 2020, Part 1: Round 1-21
- Week 2: 3 January 2021, Part 2: Round 22-32
- Week 3: 10 January 2021, Part 3: Round 33-48
- Week 4: 17 January 2021, Part 4: Round 49-57
Materials needed:
- 3.5 mm (E) size hook (Get great hooks HERE)
- NOTE: If you crochet loosely I advise you to use a 3 mm (5/0) size hook
- 1 Scheepjes Whirl and a matching whirlette or approximately 1640 yards/1500 meters of fingering weight yarn
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Stitch markers (optional)
- NOTE: Blocking is essential to enhance the textured patternwork of your blanket
Note 1: If you crochet loosely, you might need to get another Whirlette or instead of using 2 Whirlettes, you can use 2 Whirls
Note 2: Blocking is essential to enhance the textured, lacy patternwork of your blanket
Difficulty:
Intermediate. Although, this is an intermediate/advanced pattern, advanced beginners can join in too as the pattern will have CLEAR and EASY TO UNDERSTAND instructions with some photo help.
Size:
The finished size is 87.5cm x 87.5 cm / 34.5″ x 34.5″ AFTER BLOCKING.
However, if you use different yarn weight (dk or aran), the finished size will be bigger.
Gauge:
5 half double crochet stitches and 3 rows = 1″ / 2.5cm
The finished size will also differ if you have a loose or tight tension.
Helpful tips:
Don’t get stressed about the time frame. It’s all about the joy of crocheting, so if it takes more time to complete each part it’s still okay! This is not a race. It’s a journey, our journey together to create something unique and beautiful with or creativity. 😊 💕
You can get the materials to be prepared for the start now or you can ask for the yarn as a Christmas present (What a great excuse to get more yarn, right?)
This will be a written pattern only with no charts. However, it will have some helpful photos for the tricky rounds.
Facebook group:
Before the start date, feel free to join my Facebook group where you can get some extra support from me and some other wonderful members of the team. You can join HERE.
PDF file:
The pattern will be also available in PDF format in my Ravelry store for a small fee. I will upload the parts on the release dates (shown above) and once all parts released, I’m going to merge the parts in one file and upload that too.
Thank you so much for your time to read through this information! I can’t wait to start and see all your beautiful creations!
With Love,
Krisztina
