Hello and welcome to Anna’s Stories-the next chapter of Anna’s Tales!
As you may know, my Anna’s Tales CAL was a huge success and the amount of positive feedback I got, encouraged me to create something bigger but similar to the original pattern.
At the end of the CAL, so many of you were asking if there’s a chance to create blocks (mainly using Part 1) from the pattern and join them together to make it larger. I told you it’s possible but I wanted to create the pattern myself with a beautifully textured border which fits the design, so after months and months of waiting…here it is!
I think you know the story behind the design’s name by now:
My daughter’s middle name is Anna and she always sits next to me watching cartoons and checking my work while I’m crocheting. That’s why I decided to name the pattern after her, because all of my ideas for the design came from the love I feel for her, she inspires me all the time.
I am so excited that you decided to join me in this beautiful journey to create this stunning blanket which can be a treasured heirloom for the next generations!

Finished Size: The full blanket: 47.5” x 65”/ 121 x 165 cm AFTER BLOCKING
Each Block: 15” x 15”/ 38 x 38 cm AFTER BLOCKING
Materials needed:
- 3.5 mm (E) size hook (Get great hooks HERE)
- NOTE: If you crochet loosely I advise you to use a 3 mm (5/0) size hook
- 4 Scheepjes Whirls and 2 Whirlettes in the following shades and quantities:
- Whirls: 1 x Sherbet Rainbow (768), 1 x Cotton Candyman (760), 1 x Jumpin Jelly (759), 1 x Popin Candy (762)
- Whirlettes: 2 x Ice (860)
- or approximately 5121 yards/ 4682.5 meters of fingering weight yarn
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Stitch markers (optional)
- NOTE: Blocking is essential to enhance the lacy, textured patternwork of your blanket
Stitches Used and Abbreviations:

Gauge: 5 half double crochet stitches and 3 rows = 1″ / 2.5cm
Additional notes:
- If a row/round starts with a Chain 1 or 2, this is not counted as a stitch, unless stated otherwise.
- Slip stitches do not count as stitches.
- CH 3 always counts as double crochet.
- US terms used throughout!
- At the end of every round, there’s going to be a note with the stitch count, so you can keep track of your work easily and avoid any mistakes. It’s written in a different color; the first line in bold is always the total stitch count for the round (starting with round 18, this excludes corner stitches). Below that, I included a stitch count per side (excluding corner stitches) and per corner too, in case you prefer it that way.
- When working on the corners, always remember that there might be a hidden stitch hiding under the corner stitches which is the first stitch of the previous row
- When you make a normal puff stitch, it creates 2 loops on its top. I will refer to these loops as first loop and second loop. The first loop is always the one on the right and the second one is on the left.
- Notes are written in a different color in (brackets) to help you through the pattern.
- You can start each round as I did in the pattern or you can use a standing stitch or chains, it’s totally up to you!

Note: If you are using Scheepjes Whirls in the same colorways, you can start your Sherbet Rainbow and Popin Candy Whirls from the inside and the Cotton Candy Man and Jumpin Jelly Whirls from the outside as I did.

Here are the blocks by Whirl shades, marked with letters:
1. Sherbet Rainbow Whirl (768) started from the inside:

Using the picture below as a guide, lay the squares in order, 3 squares horizontally and 4 squares vertically:
Join squares vertically then horizontally on RS by working from the top throughout, *1 SC in CH 2 corner SP of bottom square (Pic 1), CH 2, 1 SC in CH 2 corner SP of the opposite square on top (Pic 2-3), CH 2, SK 2 STS on the opposite square, {1 SC in bottom square (Pic 4), CH 2, SK 2 STS, 1 SC in top square, CH 2, SK 2 STS (Pic 5-6)} 25 times, 1 SC in CH 2 corner SP of bottom square (Pic 7), CH 2, 1 SC in CH 2 corner SP of top square (Pic 8), CH 2, get your next bottom square, 1 SC in CH 2 corner SP of that square (Pic 9), CH 2, get your next top square, 1 SC in CH 2 corner SP of that square (Pic 10-11)* repeat from *to* as many times as needed to join all squares vertically, omitting last instruction of getting your next squares at the end of each row of joining.

(Note: make sure, do not twist the joining of the squares after the first vertical join. To prevent it from happening, you can join your squares together through the corners on the side with a stitch marker to keep them in place)
When joining the squares horizontally, repeat the instructions above. When you get to the corners of the squares, do everyting as you did before, making sure your horizontal joining chains are above the vertical joining.
