CH = chain

SK = skip

SP = space

SLST = slip stitch

ST/STS= stitch/ stitches

RS = right side

WS = wrong side

SC = single crochet

FPSC = front post single crochet

DC = double crochet

FPDC = front post double crochet

2DCCL = two double crochet cluster

Cluster V ST = cluster v stitch

{ } =indicates how many stitches go into the same stitch or used to repeat a small set of instructions between these brackets the number of times given

[ ] = used to repeat a medium length set of instructions between these brackets, the number of times given

[ ] = used to repeat a longer set of instructions between these brackets, the number of times given (This is only used for a full repeat, may contain smaller repeats)

Front Post Single Crochet (FPSC):

Insert your hook from front to back around the post of indicated stitch, from right to left, yarn over and finish your single crochet as usual.

Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC):

Yarn over, insert your hook from front to back around the post of indicated stitch, from right to left, yarn over and finish your double crochet as usual.

2 Double Crochet Cluster (2DCCL):

  1. Yarn over hook, insert hook in indicated stitch/space, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, leave the stitch unfinished. (2 loops on hook)
  2. Yarn over, insert hook in same indicated stitch/space, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.

Cluster V Stitch (Cluster V ST):

2DCCL in indicated stitch/space, chain 1, 2DCCL in same stitch/space.

Gauge:            not critical for this project but may affect the yarn quantities required

                        4 single crochet stitches = 1″ / 2.5cm

To start: With C1 (Daffodil Yellow) CH 137

Row 1: 1 SC in 2nd CH from hook, (Note: you can work into the back bumps of your chains if you prefer) 1 SC in each CH to end

Row 2: CH 1, 1 DC in same ST, SK 2 STS, [Cluster V ST in next ST (Pic 1), SK 2 STS] 44 times (Pic 2), 1 DC in last ST (Pic 3)

1 Cluster V ST in each CH 1 SP to end, 1 DC in last ST (Pics 1-2)

Row 11: (Note: in this row you put 2 SC in the first and last CH 1 SP, the other CH 1 spaces have only 1 SC!) CH 1, 1 SC in same ST, 1 SC in next ST (2DCCL), 2 SC in next CH 1 SP, 1 SC in next ST (2DCCL) (Pic 1), [1 SC in next ST (2DCCL), 1 SC in next CH 1 SP, 1 SC in next ST (2DCCL) (Pic 2)] 42 times, 1 SC in next ST (2DCCL), 2 SC in next CH 1 SP, 1 SC in next ST (2DCCL), 1 SC in last ST
