This pattern is really close to my heart as I designed it for my sister in law’s birthday, as a gift. I wanted to make something quick, yet beautifully textured and elegant. She loves pastel shades so the yarn cake I used was perfect for it.
Enjoy my newest design, which is super easy and fast to make!
I hope you’ll find it as beautiful as me.

Difficulty: Advanced Beginner
Finished Size: 175 cm/ 69” long
45 cm/ 17.75” wide
Gauge: Unimportant, as your garment will be blocked upon finishing to the size given
Materials needed:
- 3.5 mm (E) size hook (You can buy some great ones HERE)
- 1 Twirls Deluxe or approx. 1000 meters of any fingering weight yarn (I used Twirls Deluxe in Regent Rose)
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Stitch markers (optional)
Stitches Used and Abbreviations:
CH = chain
SK = skip
ST/STS= stitch/ stitches
SC = single crochet
DC = double crochet
2DCCL = 2 double crochet cluster
V ST= V stitch
Cluster V ST = 2 double crochet cluster V stitch
Puff V ST= puff V stitch
{ } =indicates how many stitches go into the same stitch/space
[ ] = used to repeat a longer set of instructions between these brackets, the number of times given
Special Stitches:
2 Double Crochet Cluster (2DCCL):
- Yarn over hook, insert hook in indicated stitch/space, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, leave the stitch unfinished. (2 loops on hook)
- Yarn over, insert hook in same indicated stitch/space, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.
V Stitch (V ST):
Double crochet in indicated stitch/space, chain 1, double crochet in same stitch/space.
Puff V Stitch (Puff V ST):
- Yarn over hook, insert hook in indicated stitch/space, pull up a long loop through that stitch (3 loops on hook)
- Yarn over hook again, insert hook into the same stitch, pull up a loop (same height as the previous one). You should have 5 loops on your hook.
- Yarn over and pull through 4 loops, (2 loops remain on your hook)
- Yarn over and pull through both remaining loops. (This way, you will only have 1 loop on top of the puff stitches, instead of 2)
- Chain 1 and then repeat instructions from 1.-4.
Cluster V ST (Cluster V ST):
2 DCCL in indicated stitch/space, chain 1, 2 DCCL in same stitch/space.
Picot Stitch (Picot ST):
CH 3, SLST into the third CH from hook
Additional notes:
- If a row/round starts with a Chain 1, it is not counted as a stitch, unless stated otherwise.
- Slip stitches do not count as stitches.
- US terms used throughout
- Remember to turn your work after each row
- I wrote the instructions in sections and I’ll refer to these sections in the repeats further in the pattern (e.g. repeat section 1)
- Notes are written in a different color in (brackets) to help you through the pattern.
- NOTE: Blocking is essential to enhance the lace patternwork of your shawl and to ensure that your edges are straight
