A Cozy Autumn Crochet Shawl
This is a light and airy shawl with soft drape in beautiful autumn colors.

You can widen, narrow, lengthen, or shorten it to fit your needs.

Difficulty: Advanced Beginner
Size: 44 cm/ 17” wide
200 cm/ 78” long AFTER BLOCKING
Materials needed:
- 5.5 mm (I) size hook (I used Clover Amour)
- 230 grams of Tea Time (Halloween-02) by Hobbii (This is a bit more than 1 cake)
Total yardage: approx. 729 yards/666 metres
(Note: if you want to use only 1 cake, the pattern includes the alterations)
Alternatively, you can use any dk weight yarn that matches gauge
- Yarn needle for sewing and weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Stitch markers (optional)
Stitches Used and Abbreviations:
RS = right side
WS = wrong side
SM = stitch marker
CH = chain
SK = skip
ST/STS= stitch/ stitches
SP = space
SC = single crochet
DC = double crochet
{ } =indicates how many stitches go into the same stitch or used to repeat a small set of instructions between these brackets the number of times given
[ ] = used to repeat a medium length set of instructions between these brackets, the number of times given
[ ] = used to repeat a longer set of instructions between these brackets, the number of times given (This is only used for a full repeat, may contain smaller repeats)

Gauge: not critical for this project but may affect the yarn quantities required
17 single crochet stitches = 4″ / 10 cm
Additional notes:
- If a row/round starts with a Chain 1, it is not counted as a stitch, unless stated otherwise.
- US terms used throughout.
- At the end of every row, there’s going to be a note with the stitch count, so you can keep track of your work easily and avoid any mistakes. It’s written in a different color in bold.
- Notes are written in a different color in (brackets) to help you through the pattern or tell you which stitches to work into or skip.
- You can start each row as I did in the pattern or you can use a standing stitch or chains, it’s totally up to you!
- You can easily adjust the width of your shawl: the starting chain should be multiples of 5+2 chains.
- NOTE: Blocking is essential to enhance the lace patternwork of your shawl and to ensure that your edges are straight.
Instructions
To start: CH 77
Row 1: RS
1 SC in 2nd CH from hook (put a SM in the first ST, this will mark your starting point for Border 2), 1 SC in each CH to end (Note: you can work into the back bumps of the chains to make it look more even)

CH 1, 1 SC in same ST (Pic 1), [CH 5, SK 4 STS, 1 SC in next ST (Pic 2)] 15 times (Pic 3)

Row 3: RS

Important note:
If you use only one cake of Tea Time only repeat Rows 3-4 until you reach Row 122!

(16 SC, 15 Shells)
Fasten off and weave in all ends. Block the finished shawl.
