I am so excited to share with you that the Stars and Bobbles Wall Hanging is this week’s pattern for the Crochet Foundry Blog Hop 2022 hosted by Crochet Foundry Magazine!
Many of you know, I am a huge fan of Furls hooks now and started using them two years ago. First, I was not really interested to try them but I’ve seen so many beautiful hooks online shared by others, I wanted to give them a try! And I am so glad I did! Since then, I’ve built up a great collection and it’s still growing! (well…I think I am addicted :D)

Did you know that they have gorgeous yarn too? It’s called Wander Acrylic Yarn and I absolutely love it!
It’s so nice, soft and glides easily on the hook, it’s a dream to work with! They have beautiful, yummy colors in stock it’s worth to check them out!
Special thanks to Furls for providing the yarn and hook for this pattern!

Summer is officially here and I know that many of you are enjoying the hot weather and off to holidays but summer is a time to refresh your living space or refurbish/paint some rooms too. This is why I created this gorgeous wall hanging which can be made in any color and add character to any room!
The pattern is using many different stitches to create a nice, beautifully textured look. The fringes give the whole project a summer boho vibe.
Special thanks to my tester: Éva Nagyné Lakhézi

19”/49 cm long without fringe
23,5”/60 cm long with fringe
Materials needed:
- 5 mm (G) size hook (I used Cookies n’ Cream Streamline by Furls)
- Wander Acrylic Yarn by Furls in the following shades and quantities:
Moonbeam (C1): 100 grams (1 skein) (109 m/120 yards)
Patina (C2): 55 grams (1 skein) (60 m/66 yards)
Aurora (C3): 50 grams (1 skein) (54.5 m/60 yards)
Total: 205 grams
Total yardage: approx. 223,5 metres/ 246 yards
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Stitch markers (optional)
Stitches used and Abbreviations:
CH = chain
ST/STS = stitch/stitches
SLST = slip stitch
SM = stitch marker
SP = space
SK = skip
SC = single crochet
HDC = half double crochet
HDCBLO = half double crochet back loop only
HDC3LO = half double crochet third loop only
DC = double crochet
Bobble ST = bobble stitch
Bead ST = bead stitch
Star ST = star stitch
{ } =indicates how many stitches go into the same stitch or used to repeat a small set of instructions between these brackets the number of times given
[ ] = used to repeat a longer set of instructions between these brackets, the number of times given
Special Stitches:
Half double crochet back loop only (HDCBLO):
Yarn over, insert your hook only into the back loop on top instead of both loops, yarn over and finish your half double crochet as usual.
Stitches in the HDC 3rd loop only (HDC3LO):
Look at the top of the stitch and locate the sideways ”V”, bend the stitch to look at the back and you should see another ”V”. You will be working into the back loop of that ”V”. This creates a nice, braided look.
Bead Stitch (Bead ST): (Video tutorial is available here: https://youtu.be/t0OdwlJna8k)
- 1 double crochet in next stitch (Pic 1)
- Yarn over hook, insert hook and pull up a long loop around the post of the double crochet stitch you just made (3 loops on hook)
- Yarn over hook again, insert hook and pull up a loop (same height as the previous one) around the post of the same stitch 3 more times. You should have 9 loops on your hook. (Pic 2)
- Yarn over and pull through 8 loops, (Pic 3) (2 loops remain on your hook)
- Yarn over and pull through both remaining loops. (Pic 4)
(This way, you will only have 1 loop on top of the bead stitches, instead of 2)

Bobble Stitch (Bobble ST): (Video tutorial is available here: https://youtu.be/DiwPTpdAqnk)
- Yarn over hook, insert hook in given stitch/space, yarn over, pull through and leave the stitch unfinished. (2 loops on hook)
- Yarn over hook again, insert hook in same stitch/space, pull through and leave the stitch unfinished 6 more times. (Pic 1) (8 loops on hook)
- Yarn over and pull through all 8 loops. (Pic 2-3)

Star Stitch (Star ST): (Video Tutorial is available here: https://youtu.be/cIS6ryQ5PRA)
- Chain 3 (the first 2 chains count as a HDC) (Pic 1), insert your hook into the second chain from the hook. Yarn over and pull up a loop. (Pic 2) (2 loops on hook)
- Insert hook into the next chain, then yarn over and pull up a loop. (Pic 3) (3 loops on hook)
- Insert hook into the same stitch which has the chain 3 and pulll up a loop. (Pic 4) (4 loops on hook)
- Insert hook into each of the next two stitches, doing a yarn over and pull through in each (Pic 5-6) (6 loops on hook)
- Yarn over and pull through all six loops on the hook. Chain one to close the star, this creates the ”eye” of the first star. (Pic 7-8)
- Next, insert your hook into the “eye” that you just made. Yarn over and pull through. (Pic 9) (2 loops on hook)
- Insert hook into the space between the two last “spikes” from the first “star”. Yarn over and pull through. (Pic 10) (3 loops on hook)
- Insert hook into the same stitch where you worked the last stitch of the previous star. Yarn over and pull through. (Pic 11) (4 loops on hook)
- Insert hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through. (5 loops on hook)
- Repeat in the next stitch again. (Pic 12) (6 loops on hook)
- Yarn over and pull through all six loops, then chain one to close the second star. (Pic 13)
Repeat the steps above to make stars all the way across the row. When you get to the end, make one hdc in the last stitch. (Pic 14) (Note: the last stitch has the last ”spike” of the last star stitch)

Gauge:
not critical for this project but may affect the yarn quantities required
4 SC STS = 1”/2.5 cm
Additional notes:
- Slip stitches do not count as stitches.
- CH 1 does not count as a stitch, unless stated otherwise.
- CH 2 always counts as a double crochet, unless stated otherwise.
- US terms used throughout.
- At the end of every round, there’s going to be a note with the stitch count, so you can keep track of your work easily and avoid any mistakes. It’s written in a different color, in bold. When crocheting around, I included a total stitch count (excluding corner stitches) and also per side (short side/long side) and per corner too, in case you prefer it that way.
- When working on the corners, always remember that there might be a hidden stitch hiding under the corner stitches which is the first stitch of the previous row.
- You can start each row as I did in the pattern or you can use a standing stitch or chains, it’s totally up to you!
- Notes are written in a different color in (brackets) to help you through the pattern.
- You can easily adjust the length of your wall hanging: the starting chain should be multiples of 10+9 chains
- IMPORTANT: You have to block your project before attaching it to a rod!

To Finish:
You can add a fringe to each CH 1 SP or leave it as it is, it’s totally up to you. Blocking is important to open up the stitches and make the edges straight!
Using a tapestry needle and some leftover yarn, attach the wall hanging to a rod.
