Rembina Beanie

A gorgeously textured beanie for the chilly days!

This is a quite simple beanie with a beautiful stitch combination which creates a nice and warm headwear to keep your head warm during the cold winter and windy spring days!

I used this stitch combination in my Rembina Twisted Headband and I thought you would love a beanie option too!

Special thanks to my testers: Cheryl Freeman, Ágnes Viktória Szücs and Rebecca Urrutia

Stitches Used and Abbreviations:

CH = chain

ST = stitch

SLST = slip stitch

SCBLO = single crochet back loop only

HDC3LO = half double crochet 3rd loop only

HDC2tog3LO = 2 half double crochet 3rd loop only sts together

Special Stitches:

Half Double Crochet 3rd loop only 2 together (HDC2tog3LO):

Look at the top of the stitch and locate the sideways ”V”, bend the stitch to look at the back and you should see another ”V”. Yarn over, insert hook in that third loop, yarn over, pull through, keep the stitch unfinished. (3 loops on hook) Yarn over, insert hook in the third loop of next stitch, yarn over, pull through all 5 loops.

Stitches in the HDC 3rd loop only (HDC3LO):

Look at the top of the stitch and locate the sideways ”V”, bend the stitch to look at the back and you should see another ”V”. You will be working into the back loop of that ”V”. This creates a nice, braided look.

(Video tutorial of how to locate the third loop is available here: https://youtube.com/shorts/cowTbxJbFjk?feature=share)

Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC):

Yarn over, insert your hook from front to back around the post of given stitch, from right to left, yarn over and finish your double crochet as usual.

Back Post Double Crochet (BPDC):

Yarn over, insert your hook from back to front around the post of given stitch, from right to left, yarn over and finish your double crochet as usual.

Gauge: 4 SC = 1”

Additional notes:

  • If a row starts with a CH 1, that is not counted as a stitch.
  • US terms used throughout
  • At the end of every row, there’s going to be a note with the stitch count, so you can keep track of your work easily and avoid any mistakes. It’s written in a different color in bold
  • Notes are written in a different color in (brackets) to help you through the pattern.
  • You can start each row as I did in the pattern or you can use a standing stitch or chains, it’s totally up to you!
  • IMPORTANT: The photo tutorial can be found under the Adult Large size
